I’m one of those people that just loves to try new makeup, so when I use a product up and decide to go out and buy that same product again instead of trying out something different, then that’s a pretty good sign. Anyway, today I thought I’d put together a list of some makeup that I still have in my collection and love, that I’ve made the effort to go out and buy multiple times.
When it comes to foundation and concealers, these are the two things I go through most often, but also the ones that I try out different products for most regularly. I’d say this is probably because I’m yet to find my ride or dies, but there have been two foundations and one concealer that I’ve gone back to a few times while I’m still on the search for my all time favourites. The first foundation is the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Full Coverage Foundation, and the second is the L’oreal True Match. These foundations are very different from each other, Tarte offers a full coverage (like the name would suggest) and is definitely a thicker formula than the L’oreal, which is a medium coverage and much lighter and more liquidy in texture. I love both of these foundations alone for their own reasons, but I love them even more mixed together into a little foundation cocktail. Doing this gives you the high coverage and lasting power from Tarte, but the finish and the bit of glow peeking through from the L’oreal.
Master Conceal from Maybelline is probably my favourite concealer I have tried yet. Firstly, the colour is actually light enough for my super pale face, and on top of that it has insane coverage and wears so well too. I’ve been through a few tubes of these now and it’s definitely my go-to if I suddenly run out and need to buy a new concealer asap. Because it is so heavy duty it can be easy to go overboard at first, but if you just use a small amount it still covers everything and it blends beautifully. This also means it lasts for ages so it’s a bit of a win-win in my opinion.
I’ve spoken about the E.L.F Baked Highlighter in Moonlight Pearls before so I’ll keep this short and sweet, but this is my favourite highlight. I reach for it over Becca, Hourglass, etc. However, the packaging is absolute shit but when I’m paying $10 for otherwise an amazing highlighter I really don’t care. The awful packaging is the reason I went out and bought another of these because my first one broke, but I’m so glad I did because it’s super amazing.
Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder could honestly be one of, if not my favourite makeup product that I own. I use this every single day without fail. The first one of these I went through was in the medium shade, but since then they have come out with a light shade so you know when I bought this again I went for that one. The cool tone of it is perfect for my skin tone, and it’s super soft and easy to blend. This stuff isn’t cheap ($63 for 4grams) but it lasts forever and is just so beautiful that I think it’s worth it. So if you’re in the market for a good contour powder and wanna treat yourself a little bit, I would definitely say this is the one for you.
Lastly, my Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil. I love the colour, the formula, the shape of the pencil, everything about it is perfect for my eyebrows. These are so easy to use, I just define the tail of my brow, and the arch and then I just give the rest of my eyebrows a quick once-over. I have reasonably thick brows, but they’re a little sparse in some areas so this is perfect. Of course, the packaging is very cute, and it has a spoolie on one end which is pretty much a necessity. This is one of those products again that is small but lasts for ages, so I think it’s worth the little investment.
I hope this little insight gave you some ideas, or at least helped you waste some time. Either way, I hope it was enjoyable.
