my excitement for summer

I feel like winter in Canberra this year has lasted an eternity, so now that we’ve started to get some warmer days I am so very happy. To commemorate this special occasion (seasons changing) I just wanted to talk about some of the trends/pieces etc. that I love right now and that I’m super keen to wear all through spring and into summer.

One thing I wish I wore more of through winter is colour. I think it’s because I have such an extensive collection already of jackets and jumpers (that I literally can’t fit into my wardrobe) that I told myself it would be dumb to buy any more, especially in bright colours and patterns because I wouldn’t have worn them all enough.

I think this kind of rainbow style striped top is a bit of a thing at the moment and I’m so into it. This top reminds me of rainbow ice cream so there’s my first reason as to why I love it, but it’s so good for this little in-between period when it’s a bit cold, but can also be warm because it’s ribbed and a nice thick material. Paired with almost any wash of denim it looks so so good.

In terms of my favourite colours to wear at the moment, red is definitely up there. I’ve got a few new red accessories and I love wearing them with just cream, off-white, black and denim, but in this outfit  I put them with a burnt orange singlet just because I was curious if it would look okay and I actually am really keen on how it looks.

I don’t own many red clothes, but I’m really getting into accessories lately and red just looks so good with a plain outfit. Also, my checkered vans of course had to make another appearance; just like a pop of colour, these make any boring outfit look 10x cooler, plus they’re super comfy.

As well as colour, I love cool pants in summer. I’m also getting into body suits lately, and I love the look of some flowy pants with a skin-tight body tucked in. These pants I haven’t worn nearly enough as I’d hoped last summer, so I’m absolutely gonna try and bring them out as much as possible.

Like in the previous red outfit, I love repeating colours. In that one I just did this with accessories, so for this one, I put my pink loafers (which I’m obsessed with) in here to match my pink body suit and I think it looks really cute.

Lastly, and probably my number 1 summer staple, slip dresses. They’re the easiest outfit ever but they still look so good.

This particular one is a thin fabric too which makes it so light and perfect for when it’s super hot. Because they’re such a simple cut I feel like you can wear them with pretty much any shoes/bag/etc, even if they’re covered in a pretty loud print. This one is very subdued, the pattern is very small and sweet, so I wore it with some of my favourite shoes for taking outfits up a notch just to make this look a little bit more interesting.

I hope in some way this was enjoyable.
