new in my wardrobe

As always, I’ve been shopping a little bit, and I wanted to share a few of what I think are some of the best things I’ve bought recently. I am so in love with these few things I’m about to share, and I’m hoping that if I look back on this haul these pieces will do better than the ones in my last new in post. As a little side note, I really enjoyed doing the revisiting my last new in post, so I might end up doing another one of those after a little while to follow up on this one too.

If you know me, you know I wear a lot of dresses through the warmer weather, and while we’re really not out of winter yet, I found 2 dresses I fell absolutely in love with and because they were both on sale I thought I’d just get them and pray the weather gets nicer so I can wear them soon. The first one I got was this red spotted one from Bec & Bridge. Bec & Bridge is one of those brands that just has pieces it’s hard not to lust over, however a lot of their pieces are definitely on the pricey side. This one I got on sale for a little less than half price which made it a lot more affordable. The quality feels really nice, it’s 100% silk which feels amazing but I haven’t washed it yet so I can’t comment on how it washes. Tea dresses like this are all over the place, and I think the details on this one just make it so flattering. The ruching detail on the bust really shows off a bit of cleavage, and I love how it’s followed through onto the sleeves. I think this will be one of my more special dresses, and because of that I’m sure I won’t wear it constantly, but I know when I do I’m gonna feel amazing.

The second dress I got is another tea dress style piece from Free People. This I got on sale from General Pants and it was an absolute bargain. This dress I’m sure I’ll end up wearing quite a bit more than the Bec & Bridge one, mainly because of the fabric and the fact this one is a combination of viscose and rayon so it’s much easier to wash and be better for when it’s really hot. The detail on this dress too are so delicate and beautiful. I always love a little button up front, and I think it looks so cute when you leave a few undone. The little lace up detailing right under the bust really cinches you in at the waist and accentuates your chest, which is obviously super flattering. I can just see myself throwing this on with docs or maybe my stan smiths and I think it’ll look so good.

Lastly, this insane top from Dyspnea (still don’t know how to say that), and some seriously cool jeans from ASOS. This top I’ve been looking at for a while and I was kind of on the fence about which colour to get, but in the end I think this black shade was the best choice. I absolutely love the bright red one, but I thought that I would get more wear out of this colour, and if I do I’m definitely tempted to add another one to my wardrobe. Sizing wise these do come up pretty small, I’m usually a size 8-10 or a small, and I ended up getting this in a medium and it’s tight, but it really hugs and accentuates all the right places.

I’ve been seeing this style of jean that zips all the way through from front to back on a few different people, two of my favourites to rock it being Devon Carlson (@devonleecarlson) and Reese Blutstein (@double3xposure), and I really wanted some for myself. I have to start by saying these are not comfortable jeans, but god do I love the way they look. Because they’re ASOS’ own brand of denim I find they run a bit small so I went for a waist 28 like I normally do with this brand, and they’re still a tight fit. The denim feels really good and thick, and they don’t have much stretch to them. I can definitely say I won’t be wearing these for comfort, but I’m really happy to have them.

I thought as a little follow up to my last post ( on my current makeup loves) I’d do a little one on all the styles/looks/trends I’m lusting over lately. This is going to be a bit of a random mix of fashion bits and pieces so this could very well be a bit of an all over the place post because, as it’s probably pretty apparent, I’m still trying to find my grasp on blogging. So please bear with me.

Winter is finally coming to a very highly anticipated end, and I have been preparing myself for warmer weather and getting seriously into the wrap/tea dress trend. I’ve bought two new ones this month, hoping to fulfill my want for a Realisation Par dress (because sadly I just don’t think I can justify that much money on a dress at this point in my life).

One is definitely just a classic wrap around design, and the other one is more like a tea dress, as it doesn’t wrap around but ties under the bust, and has sort of bell sleeves. Both are printed with spots, and I love them both so much. I’m obsessed and I can’t wait until it warms up more so that I can wear them absolutely non-stop, because I know that I will.

Loafers are my next thing. I own two pairs, both very Gucci-esque, both definitely still not Gucci (which does break my heart, but what can you do). I got my first pair a while ago, they’re just a very classic looking black backless pair with gold detailing, but having bought them at the start of winter I kind of just hadn’t been getting the wear out of them. Now that the weather isn’t absolutely freezing my feet as much I feel like I can start wearing them again, and I also bought myself another pair too. My new ones have backs and they’re the cutest blush pink colour which I think are going to look so cute with so many different outfits and I’m so excited to wear them more.

Carrying on with the loafers, I’ve been loving pairing them with previously mentioned dresses (that goes without saying), but I’ve also been dying over how they look worn with ‘manly’ tees and cute, girly skirts. I’m a massive lover of balancing masculinity and femininity within outfits, and I think shoes can be the potentially the most difficult part of the balancing act. Big, oversized band t-shirts tucked into lovely and girly skirts is such a look in my opinion, and while an outfit like that looks good if you wear it with a pair of vans or converse, I think swapping them out for a pair of loafers just elevates the look as a whole and I am all about it. Slightly androgynous and very cool (in my personal opinion).

The last bit that I want to give a shout out to in this post is my Timex watch. I got this watch for Christmas last year from my lovely boyfriend, but after I wore it a couple of times (for reasons still unknown) it just stopped working. Anyway, long story short we went and got it sorted out and now that I can wear it again I have fallen in love with it all over again. I’ve literally never in my life seen a watch that is so me. From the leather band, to the chronographs, and the beautiful green face, everything about this watch had me lusting after it from the second I saw it and I am so happy to have it back in my life.

I hope you enjoyed this little rundown of my style/fashion favs.
