cream everything

I haven’t posted or written anything on here in coming close onto 2 weeks. I haven’t really been busy, I do work full time but I can’t pretend and say I don’t have any free time, but I’ve been sick lately and just so exhausted all the time it seems. But I really wanted to get back into it because I’d been doing okay with how much I’d been posting recently. The last post I did was new in my wardrobe, and since then I’ve bought a few more things that I love, but I just have one outfit I want to talk about today.

There’s been a few super lovely days lately where I’ve wanted to bring out those slightly more summery clothing, and of some of the things I’ve bought for myself recently are really good for this kind of transitional weather, because I’m sure I can make these work when it’s colder too.

I absolutely love all cream/off white outfits, especially in the summer, but I got these jeans which I really love from Weekday called the Divinity Denim Trouser (they’re out of stock but these ones are pretty similar), which are perfect for this time of year. I hadn’t bought any jeans from Weekday before this pair, and I’d seen so many of the British fashion bloggers that I love absolutely raving about them so I’ve been super keen to try some. I bought mine in a waist 28 because I had heard that the denim is a little stiff and doesn’t have a lot of stretch to it, so like I do with any ASOS jeans I buy a size up rather than going down, because I’d say I’m probably around a waist 27.

These jeans are 100% cotton and I’m pretty sure they were from Weekday’s organic cotton range but like I said these are out of stock currently on ASOS so I can’t double check and I’m not 100% sure on what Weekday calls this range specifically. I haven’t worn these outside of my house yet admittedly, but I think they’ll get a lot of wear, especially before it gets way too hot for jeans.

A look that I think I’ll always love is straight leg/sort of baggy jeans and a tiny tight top. I’m not really into wearing tight clothing all over, I’ll usually just pick either the top or bottom half to be more fitted. I think there’s something a bit androgynous about this look, but with that little twist of a super tight top and I love it. I’d been looking for a top like this for a while, and there seems to be a lot of singlets similar in shape, but a lot that I’d seen hadn’t been as tight as I wanted them to fit, however this one definitely is. It’s from Emory Park, I bought it off ASOS just like the jeans. Just as a little side note, the fabric feels a lot more velvety in person than it looks online, I thought it would be like a basic cotton rib so I was a bit surprised but I do actually really love it either way.

new in my wardrobe

As always, I’ve been shopping a little bit, and I wanted to share a few of what I think are some of the best things I’ve bought recently. I am so in love with these few things I’m about to share, and I’m hoping that if I look back on this haul these pieces will do better than the ones in my last new in post. As a little side note, I really enjoyed doing the revisiting my last new in post, so I might end up doing another one of those after a little while to follow up on this one too.

If you know me, you know I wear a lot of dresses through the warmer weather, and while we’re really not out of winter yet, I found 2 dresses I fell absolutely in love with and because they were both on sale I thought I’d just get them and pray the weather gets nicer so I can wear them soon. The first one I got was this red spotted one from Bec & Bridge. Bec & Bridge is one of those brands that just has pieces it’s hard not to lust over, however a lot of their pieces are definitely on the pricey side. This one I got on sale for a little less than half price which made it a lot more affordable. The quality feels really nice, it’s 100% silk which feels amazing but I haven’t washed it yet so I can’t comment on how it washes. Tea dresses like this are all over the place, and I think the details on this one just make it so flattering. The ruching detail on the bust really shows off a bit of cleavage, and I love how it’s followed through onto the sleeves. I think this will be one of my more special dresses, and because of that I’m sure I won’t wear it constantly, but I know when I do I’m gonna feel amazing.

The second dress I got is another tea dress style piece from Free People. This I got on sale from General Pants and it was an absolute bargain. This dress I’m sure I’ll end up wearing quite a bit more than the Bec & Bridge one, mainly because of the fabric and the fact this one is a combination of viscose and rayon so it’s much easier to wash and be better for when it’s really hot. The detail on this dress too are so delicate and beautiful. I always love a little button up front, and I think it looks so cute when you leave a few undone. The little lace up detailing right under the bust really cinches you in at the waist and accentuates your chest, which is obviously super flattering. I can just see myself throwing this on with docs or maybe my stan smiths and I think it’ll look so good.

Lastly, this insane top from Dyspnea (still don’t know how to say that), and some seriously cool jeans from ASOS. This top I’ve been looking at for a while and I was kind of on the fence about which colour to get, but in the end I think this black shade was the best choice. I absolutely love the bright red one, but I thought that I would get more wear out of this colour, and if I do I’m definitely tempted to add another one to my wardrobe. Sizing wise these do come up pretty small, I’m usually a size 8-10 or a small, and I ended up getting this in a medium and it’s tight, but it really hugs and accentuates all the right places.

I’ve been seeing this style of jean that zips all the way through from front to back on a few different people, two of my favourites to rock it being Devon Carlson (@devonleecarlson) and Reese Blutstein (@double3xposure), and I really wanted some for myself. I have to start by saying these are not comfortable jeans, but god do I love the way they look. Because they’re ASOS’ own brand of denim I find they run a bit small so I went for a waist 28 like I normally do with this brand, and they’re still a tight fit. The denim feels really good and thick, and they don’t have much stretch to them. I can definitely say I won’t be wearing these for comfort, but I’m really happy to have them.

some favourites right now – fashion

My last post about some of my current beauty favourites I hope broke up the heavy fashion based content a little bit for you, because today I have essentially the same post except featuring some of my number one pieces of clothing/accessories. I only picked a couple of things that I wanted to mention, definitely sticking to only the best, but also maybe some things that I don’t necessarily talk about a huge amount on here, but that I wear and use so much in real life.

I go between bags a little bit but I seem to keep going back to this little number lately. I bought it about a year ago because I wanted a tiny backpack for splendour in the grass, and since then I haven’t used it as a backpack but only as a cross body. I seriously love the look of these kind of bags, especially the little Louis Vuitton ones, but I am in no way shape or form able to afford one of those so until the day I can I’ll just stick with this one. I really know nothing about the brand of this, I found it one day at TK Maxx and at first the logo on it put me off a bit, but now I’m really not too phased by it.

I don’t actually own that many pairs of sunglasses, I recently decluttered a whole heap that I don’t wear/don’t find very flattering on me, so I’ve kind of whittled it right down to my favourite few. Lately these have been the ones that I’ve been keeping in my bag and therefore the ones I’ve been wearing. This cat eye style is one of my favourites because I feel like it actually looks good on my face. The light tortoiseshell frames I also love, and they go with everything while not looking so heavy on as a black pair would. Plus, these are from Cotton On and were only about $20 which is so so good.

These pants and jumper have been huge staples in my wardrobe lately, both because they’re just so easy to wear. The jumper is something I wouldn’t have normally bought because I’m not hugely into brands like Adidas for clothing, but this was 40% off and even though I own so many jumpers, the vast majority of them are knits, so I thought a regular crew would be a good addition. I’ve worn it so much more than I thought I would, and I really like how little the logo is compared so many other Adidas jumpers.

My pants are from Mango, I bought them while I was in Ireland, and they’re kind of like my go to alternative to jeans. I am such a sucker for corduroy, and the fit of these on me and my crazy long legs is perfect. I will say these can be a tad unflattering because the material is so thick, especially on the front with the fly and definitely if I tuck a winter jumper in. They are super high wasited and have a kind of wide leg, and they’re pretty much my perfect fit. I just put these with the adidas jumper for the sake of this post, would I wear them together? knowing me I probably would but at the same time I understand that they don’t really go that well together.

some favourites right now – beauty

It has been a hot minute since I’ve talked about anything beauty related on here, so I thought that instead of shoving some more fashion content down your throat today I’d switch it up a little bit. I honestly think if I was a youtuber I would make a favourites video every month, mostly because I just love rambling on about things I’ve been loving so much, but because on here I’m putting my thoughts into writing I can definitely reign myself in a bit.

For at least the last month or two I’ve been stepping away from wearing much makeup. I love makeup so very much, but lately my skin seems to be just hating any makeup I’ve been putting on it and it’s just not seemed very happy so I thought I’d give it a much needed breather. Because of this I only have one makeup product that I wanted to talk about and that’s the E.L.F Baked Highlighters.

I have two shades; Moonlight Pearls, which is a perfect face highlight for my pale af skin, and also Apricot Glow, which I absolutely do not use on my face but makes such a beautiful light eyeshadow and looks amazing when you lay it on top of other shadows. I just feel like you can’t go wrong with these, they’re literally $10 each, and while they aren’t my absolute favourites, they’re definitely up there.

Moving into skincare, this is THE SHIT. One of my friends actually recommended this to me (shout out Ash), and I’ve been using it ever since. It removes all the dead skin from the top of your skin which is kind of disgusting, but also so satisfying. Your skin will feel so so smooth after using this, it’s amazing. Plus it’s so quick and easy to use because unlike a mask, you don’t have to leave this sitting on your skin, you just put it on and then start rubbing it off straight away.

This is one of those products I just really like having because while I’m not too sure what it does for my skin, I know my skin just seems to love it. This is basically an aerosol toner for oily skin, and it really just seems to work for me. Toners are a big thing for me, I can not do my skincare routine without using one. I usually use a different toner first on a cotton pad and wipe that all over my face and then I’ll go in with this one and just spray it on my face and let it soak in. I have combination, kind of oily skin which can definitely be prone to blemishes and I find that La Roche-Posay has a line of products that work so well for me.

After I give myself a very healthy spritzing with my toner, I’ll go in with moisturiser. I’m so upset because I loved this IT Cosmetics one so much and I went to repurchase it on the Sephora website but it’s just not on there. I bought it when I was in store but I really don’t go up to Sydney that often so I don’t know when I’m gonna be able to get my hands on another jar of this. This cream is probably one of the first moisturisers ever that my skin has really seemed to love, which is a tricky thing for me to find. Distraught that I don’t have a new one to dig into.

I am by no means a hair person, mine never looks particularly good, but this conditioner is really good in my books. My hair gets oily pretty quickly normally, and because I’m blonde and my hair is usually pretty silky and smooth you can tell, so heavy shampoos and conditioners do not go down well with me. This is like my perfect hair product, it’s purple to help neutralize any yellow tones, but mostly it’s the fact that it moisturises my hair and makes it feel so soft, but it doesn’t weigh it down and my hair doesn’t get greasy as fast because it’s pretty lightweight.

Lastly, my current most worn perfume, My Burberry Black. I always go for those kind of deeper, semi masculine scents over fresh or floral ones, and this one is sooooooo fcking good. I’m really bad at describing scents, but I looked this up and the base notes are amber and patchouli which explains why I love it so much. At the same time though it has this kind of sweet and feminine twist and I’m so in love with it.

On an everyday basis, I’ve  pretty much got my makeup routine down to as simple as possible while still looking put together enough. I know what works for me and what my favourite products are, so I thought I’d write a little something up that goes over everything I do and what I’ve been using to do them.

PRIMER – TOUCH IN SOL NO POREBLEM PRIMER

_MG_7293

I’ve spoken about this primer in an earlier blog post, and I haven’t stopped using it since then. It’s pretty much a perfectly balanced mix of what I want in a primer; it blurs my pores, it increases the longevity of my makeup and it feels slightly hydrating too. I can definitely tell a difference in the way my makeup looks and wears when I switch it out for another primer.

FOUNDATION – THE ORDINARY SERUM FOUNDATION IN 1.0NS VERY FAIR

_MG_7302.JPG

I bought this foundation on a whim only because their coverage foundation was out of stock, and my hopes for it weren’t very high because I really didn’t think it was going to work with my skin type, but I was completely wrong. This foundation is gorgeous. I think it might be my favourite foundation that I’ve ever tried. I’d say it’s a light to medium coverage (which is what I prefer for every day), but the finish is I think what really gets me. It’s very natural looking in a sort of ‘your skin but better’ way. It’s got a luminosity to it but even though my skin can get oily at times, and I’ve usually got this on my face for 10 hours at a time at least, it doesn’t make me look like a complete oily mess. This foundation, in my mind at least, shouldn’t work this well for my skin but it just does, as well as coming in a colour pale enough for me. I’ve already ordered another bottle because I’ve been using this every day without fail, and the best part is I don’t feel guilty about it because this bad boy only sets me back $13.50. All around amazing.

CONCEALER – MAYBELLINE FIT ME IN FAIR

_MG_7303.JPG

I think I’ve mentioned in a previous post that I haven’t found my perfect concealer as of yet, but lately, I’ve been using Fit Me from Maybelline and I do really like it. I would say I’m definitely one of those people that prefers using a lighter coverage foundation and then only concealing what I want and using a concealer with decent coverage to do that. I think that my main struggle with finding the right concealers is that in many cases, the lightest colour is not light enough for me. The shade of this one is pretty decent, but I really like how it looks on the skin; I don’t find that it cakes up or looks like it’s sitting on top of my skin, and it also wears very well. All-in-all a very good concealer, I just wouldn’t say it’s the perfect one for me.

CREAM CONTOUR – L’OREAL INFALLIBLE SCULPT CONTOURING PALETTE IN 01 LIGHT/MEDIUM

_MG_7304.JPG

This stuff is soo good. I used to think cream contouring was super scary and time-consuming, but using this product makes it exactly the opposite. The colour is a perfect neutral/cool tone which works really well on my skin, it is so easy to apply, and it blends like a dream. It’s more of a cream to powder formula than just the traditional cream, which I think is another reason as to why I love it so much. This step takes me honestly close to no time at all and just adds a little bit of bronzey goodness to my face, while still being lovely and subtle.

POWDER – LAURA MERCIER LOOSE SETTING POWDER IN TRANSLUCENT

_MG_7288

I’m definitely a loose powder over pressed powder girl, and this powder is my number one. I’ve spoken about this before so I won’t go on and on, but I like to use apply this under my eyes and on my t-zone (the places that I want to stay set down) with a damp beauty sponge, and then I just take it lightly over the rest of my face with a brush. It doesn’t get cakey, it gives my skin a lovely not-quite-blurred-but-almost look which is awesome considering it doesn’t claim to be a blurring product. This is an expensive powder but in my eyes, and for me it’s worth the money.

CONTOUR – KEVYN AUCOIN SCULPTING POWDER IN LIGHT

_MG_7301.JPG

My favourite contour product ever. I’ve been using this consistently for the past 2 years, and in that time I’ve never felt the need to try anything else. Originally I had it in the medium shade, but I repurchased it in light and it’s just the perfect cool toned, light contour which doesn’t look like a harsh line on my pasty face. If anyone was to ask me to recommend them a contour powder, there’s no doubt in my mind this is what I’d tell them to buy. It’s an expensive powder, but if you’re in a position where you want to spend a bit extra then this is something that I would say is worth it.

BLUSH – MAC TOLEDO LIMITED EDITON BLUSH OMBRE IN RIPE PEACH

_MG_7300.JPG

I’m very sorry that you can’t buy this blush anymore because it really is very beautiful. I don’t use it so much in winter, but in summer it’s perfect. I love how, because of the ombre effect, you can kind of choose if you wanna go for a more pink or a more peachy look depending on how you feel or what suits the eye/lip you’re going with. I’ll leave it at that because it’s obviously not available anymore, but if something like this ever is released again, snatch it up while you can because you won’t regret it.

HIGHLIGHTER – E.L.F BAKED HIGHLIGHTER IN MOONLIGHT PEARLS

_MG_7297.JPG

Again, I’ve spoken about this in a couple of posts, and for good reason because it’s so beautiful. I’m not going to ramble on forever about it, but I love this highlight so much. The shade is gorgeous, and the way it blends onto the skin is so wonderful. Like I said I won’t go on too much, but there is so much love in my heart for this highlighter, and if you’re on the hunt for something good – buy it.

EYES – MAC BLUSH & E.L.F HIGHLIGHTER, BOURJOUIS VOLUME 1 SECONDE

_MG_7275

On an every day basis, I am super lazy with my eyes. All I do is run some of the same blush I use on my face through my crease to add a little bit of colour and definition, and then just pop some of my highlighter on my inner corner and bring it slightly onto the lid, and that’s it. Takes literally 30 seconds and makes me look that little bit more awake and put together. Since I have eyelash extensions I’m not very fussy with my mascara as I only use it on my lower lashes. Lately I’ve been using the Bourjouis Volume 1 Seconde because I had it lying around, and while it’s good I know that I’ve used better ones in the past.

_MG_7296

BROWS – BENEFIT GOOF PROOF BROW PENCIL & BENEFIT GIMME BROW IN 3

_MG_7295.JPG

_MG_7265

I usually like to keep my brows pretty natural and simple, and I think that a brow pencil is the best and easiest way to do this. This one from Benefit is my favourite one that I’ve tried. The shape of the pencil is perfect for the shape of my brows, and it means that it’s super easy for me to define and fill them in very quickly. Then after that I go over them with another Benefit brow product, the Tint My Brow, which just lets me brush them into place and add a little bit more colour and volume to them. Benefit does brow products very well in my opinion, so if you’re after some new brow goodies definitely check them out.

SETTING SPRAY – GLAM GLOW GLOWSETTER MAKEUP SETTING SPRAY

_MG_7270

_MG_7292

My makeup never feels complete until its set, and my favourite setting spray right now is this one from Glam Glow. It just makes all the makeup on your face seem to melt and just come together so beautifully, and leaves your face looks subtly luminous, but it doesn’t make my skin look shiny or oily at all. If I forget this step I can tell a difference in how my skin looks, and the way in which my makeup wears throughout the day. I wouldn’t want to go without this product.

LIPS – RIMMEL OH MY GLOSS IN 100 LOVE BUG

_MG_7305.JPG

I’ve gotten so much more into glossy and just natural looking lips lately, so this is perfect just to chuck on top of some lip balm just to add a little bit of something, without adding a strong wash of colour. This gloss in particular has little tiny bits of sparkle through it which I think is so cute too. It’s just a super easy gloss to chuck on and then be able to reapply easily throughout your day.

_MG_7264_MG_7287

After writing this all out, it seems like a lot but I promise you this makeup is sooo easy and it only takes me 10-15 minutes to do. I’d say the step I spend the longest on is my foundation because I like to take my time making sure its all blended and buffed into my skin, but after that everything else is a breeze. And the more often you do the same routine the faster you’ll get.
